Five Signs You've Officially Become the "Where Are My Glasses?" Person

There's a moment — you never see it coming — when you become “That Person”. The one patting down three pockets for glasses that are, in fact, on your face. It happens to everyone eventually, and once you notice it, you can't stop noticing it.

Here are five signs you've arrived.

1. You have a "junk drawer," and it has expanded to at least one full shelf

Batteries that fit nothing you currently own. A takeout menu from a restaurant that closed in 2019. Four half-used tubes of super glue, all somehow dried out. This drawer is not a mistake — it's a museum, and you are its curator.

2. You've said "back in my day" unironically, out loud, to another human being

And the worst part? You weren't even talking about anything that happened that long ago.

3. You've developed strong, specific opinions about chairs

Firmness. Back support. Whether it "hugs you right." Twenty years ago you would sit on anything. Now you have Thoughts.

4. You've caught yourself narrating your own actions out loud

"Now where did I put that..." spoken to an empty room, as if the room might answer.
