Positive Approach to Care

created by Teepa Snow

Trainings, coaching and consultations offered
  • Dementia & Typical - Atypical Aging (What’s normal aging and what’s not)

  • Positive Approaches to Care (supportive assisting through understanding your approaches and how brain changes affect care)

  • GEMs State Model (Understanding the brain changes and seeing what the person has left, rather than their losses to provide better communication and care)

  • Getting to Know Dementia: Community Training Kit

*In these six sessions, participants will gain an understanding of the ways brains change during the condition of dementia and how these differ from changes due to other factors such as typical aging, medication reactions, or a high-stress lifestyle. By learning more about brain function and changes, we can begin to appreciate the abilities that remain, rather than only focusing on what has been lost, to more effectively provide support.

  • Specialized Coaching and Consultation for Long Term Care organizations offered

Dementia Friendly Business training sessions

Community trainings

If you are a business or organization looking to support your community members who are living with dementia and their care partners, you can schedule an hour training with your staff to become a designated Dementia Friendly organization.

Staff attend a training on understanding the basics of Alzheimer’s/Dementia and how brain changes affect accessibility in our communities, causing isolation and both people living with dementia and their care partners.

Your business receives recognition online. Staff receives certificates and our community members feel better knowing that they can enter a business that will understand their challenges.
